    About This Role

    • To conduct training in mobile maintenance mechanical and electrical maintenance for both experienced mobile mechanical mechanics and electricians and trainees.
    • To supervise and provide on-the-job guidance to the trainees.
    • To conduct assessments to establish current competencies and report on who will further require training and assessment in areas where competency gaps are identified.

    In This Role You Will

    Accreditations

    • Impart required mine maintenance electrical/electronic technical skills and knowledge in accordance with prescribed curriculum, programs and standards.
    • Conduct training needs analysis and develop training plans for process maintenance.
    • Report on certification and accreditation status.

    Health and Safety

    • Correct unsafe practices whenever such situation exists.
    • Maintain all necessary processes and procedures as outlined in the training management system.

    Training and Assessment

    • Conduct training in mobile electrical and electronics maintenance for both experienced mobile electricians, technicians and trainees:
      • this includes Mobile maintenance Apprenticeship Program which is a vital part of Newmont’s commitment to maximize local employment and develop a safe, environmentally, and socially responsible, skilled workforce. The program covers training in theory and practical aspects of mobile mechanical maintenance including safety, community, and environmental aspects of maintenance.
    • Conduct safety training to mobile maintenance workforce in accordance with Newmont standards.
    • Develop and modify mobile training and assessment material where directed.
    • Contribute towards production of teaching schedules and other training associated administration.
    • Conduct assessment and testing as detailed in curriculum.
    • Maintain accurate records of all training and assessment activities.
    • Engage with departments to ascertain their needs.
    • Develop training content, research and pull together material to seek approval on said content from the Superintendent.

    Staff Supervision

    • Supervise and provide on-the-job guidance to the trainees.
    • Conduct assessments to establish current competencies and report on who will further require training and assessment in areas where competency gaps are identified.
    • Monitor progress of trainees and provide coaching and instruction as required.

    Your Training, Skills And Experience Checklist

    Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

    • Degree/Higher National Diploma in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic).
    • Workplace Trainer and Assessor Certification.

    Additional Knowledge

    • Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of large-scale gold process maintenance.
    • Thorough knowledge of competency-based curriculum.

    Experience

    • Between 5 – 8 years’ experience preferably in mining of which at least 3 – 4 years’ experience should be in a supervisory capacity.
