Requirements :
Basic qualification accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice 425 or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse plus a post basic diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science with a duration of at least 1 year.
A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant speciality.
The candidate must be conversant with the Maternal Care Guidelines, the HIV Guidelines, the data required for maternal and neonatal health. Must work within the legal and ethical framework that governs the nursing profession and public employees.
The successful candidate must actively participate in management decisions and form part of the multidisciplinary team.
Actively participate in morbidity and mortality meetings relevant to the department and act in the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child hospital.
Manage conflict and discipline.
Good Management, Communication, Administration and Leadership skills.
Must be computer literate (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook) and be able to analyse data.
Duties :
Coordination of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care provided within set standards of a professional/ legal framework.
Effectively manage the utilisation and supervision of human, financial and material resources.
Co-ordination of the provision of effective training and research.
Provision of effective support to nursing services.
Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development.
