Job Description:

  • Our client owns and operates large scale farms in Ghana with focus on the production of high-quality healthy foods, while having a positive impact on soil health and biodiversity and positively impacting on the lives of local communities and is seeking to recruit a Farm Supervisor to assist with supervision activities on the farms.

    Farming Operations: Operation covers over 1,000 acres of Mango, Maize and animal farms and requires the services of a farm supervisor to coordinate and develop farm hands for tillage, planting, cultivating, timely fertilizer and pesticide application, and harvest operations. This position also requires ensuring a safe work environment and organizing/providing training as necessary.

    Job Type: Full-Time
    Reports to: Farm Manager
    Work Location: In person
    Schedule: Monday to Friday (weekends as needed)

    Qualification Required & Experience

    Experience:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Agriculture.
    • 3+ years Farm experience, preferably in a leadership role
    • Experience in Supervision of large-scale farming operations (Required)

    Competencies and Requirements:

    • Driver’s License (Required)
    • Ability to Relocate
    • Knowledge in Crop (Mango, Maize) Life cycle and planting seasons
    • Enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills and aptitude for people leadership.
    • Excitement to learn new concepts and willingness to experiment with new practices and technologies.
    • Ability to make decisions in complex environments and to react to shifting priorities
    • Ability to work additional hours during harvest season.
    • Ability to uphold a high level of confidentiality.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all staff to ensure all projects are performed and completed to the specifications given.
    • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to the sustainable nature of the farm by recommending energy saving and water conservation practices, as well as other agricultural practices.
    • Maintaining the overall health and well-being of the crops and soil.
    • Create planting schedules.
    • Provide a safe and inclusive environment for employees.
    • Ability to coordinate effectively crop planning, field maintenance, soil building, crop disease and pest management, harvesting and crop quality control, weed suppression, plant nutrition, irrigation system maintenance, etc.
    • Concern with employee health and safety; assisting in the development and maintenance of plans to protect the health and safety of farm workers.
