    Project Engineer SSA

    Key responsibilities

    External

    • Interface with External Customers where required for the implementation of project objectives.
    • Where relevant, ensure that external stakeholders are consulted on direction, progress, goals and program issues

    Internal

    • Co-ordinate regional and in-country workgroups to achieve project’s goals
    • Work with functional experts and workgroups in designing appropriate solutions.
    • Develop solutions that meet project goals or change requirements.
    • Co-ordinate the development and implementation of solutions ensuring appropriate technical and operational solutions.
    • Communicate, interface and work with the respective groups to achieve the defined goals.
    • Ensure program direction and progress is communicated to all stakeholders

    Design and Engineering

    • As directed, initiate and design project solutions to address identified or specific needs
    • Site evaluation of potential Brownfield sites, GA designs, space planning, building and DHL specifications.
    • As directed, develop project BCAs and supporting documentation for review and approval including:
    • Facility capacity and anticipated growth, completing Base Data and Facility Sizing Questionnaires, process designs and MHE specifications, facility layouts, project plans, WBS and costs, project organisation, and project execution plans.

    Project Management

    • Manage business and project risks, including the development of contingency plans according to the needs of the projects being managed
    • Project management from inception to hand-over
    • Assist with executing specific project tasks on other projects are directed
    • Feedback and monthly reporting to the Director Engineering
    • Act as a trouble shooter to provide advice and support to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the agreed specifications.

    Quality and Compliance

    • Ensure that all designs and specifications comply with DHL and country / regional standards
    • Ensure the compliance of standards within the framework of ISO 9001, ISO 14000, 5S, SHEQ and other standards as defined by DHL and in-country laws and building regulations
    • Ensure that project documentation required by the Quality Management System is kept up to date and ensure that it is within the guidelines of DHL and BPM System

    People - Management

    • Promote a culture of quality, service excellence, flexibility and cost consciousness.
    • Cultivate team spirit, communication and commitment to achieve project objectives and targets.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education & experience

    • A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience within a project engineering environment preferably with experience in facility design and engineering
    • A minimum of 2 years’ demonstrated project management experience in a multi-disciplinary project environment
    • Proven ability to deliver complex engineering solutions
    • Bachelor’s degree in civil / mechanical / electrical building services engineering
    • Recognised qualification in project management
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
