Instrument Mechanician - Mining Maintenance - Instrumentation & Electrical

Job Description

The incumbent will work as part of a team, which is responsible for maintenance on the Underground fixed plant equipment on shift basis.

Key responsibilities will include:

Carrying out repairs and maintenance on all Electrical & Instrumentation equipment in the Underground area.
Involvement in small projects to improve equipment.
Assisting supervisor in compliance with planned maintenance system.
Carrying out root cause analysis (RCA) on instrument breakdowns.
Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance on the Open Transport Network (OTN) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware for the section.
Ensuring adherence to SHEQ standards.
Carrying out LEGAL checks on relevant equipment.
Fault finding knowledge on ProfiBus DP/PA and ASI Bus systems.

Intrinsic Qualities:

Working knowledge of the core process.
Good fault-finding abilities.
Knowledge on Siemens PLC’s, CCTV systems, LAN, and telephone systems.
Good understanding of the Palabora Integrated SHEQ system.
Good communication skills.
Self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
Ability to identify potential hazards related to job and take action to perform all work within the framework of safe work practices provided.
Willingness to work shifts.
Adaptable to change.
