Job Description:

  • JOB PURPOSE

    A Business Development Manager, will play a pivotal role in expanding our presence in the dredging industry, drive business growth and build organizational clientele particularly within the maritime and dredging sectors.

    REPORTS TO : Deputy Managing Director

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to expand our dredging and marine services portfolio in key markets such as port expansion, land reclamation, and offshore energy projects.
    • Identify, qualify, and pursue major dredging tenders and marine construction projects worldwide.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including port authorities, government agencies, oil & gas companies, and engineering consultants.
    • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, potential clients, and new geographical areas for expansion.
    • Prepare and deliver compelling technical and commercial proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and our capabilities.
    • Negotiate contract terms, conditions, and pricing to secure profitable projects.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Operations, Finance) to develop tailored solutions for complex marine projects.
    • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance brand visibility.
    • Monitor competitors’ activities and provide insights to maintain our competitive edge.
    • Manage a pipeline of opportunities and provide accurate forecasts to senior management.

    JOB SPECIFICATION

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Marine Engineering, or related field; MBA
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the marine industry, with at least 7 years in business development in related businesses.
    • Fluency in speaking and writing French will be an added advantage

    EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in international business
    • Proven track record of winning large-scale contracts (>$50 million) in the dredging sector
    • Deep understanding of Marine Industry as well as of Dredging and Coastal Protection will be preferred.
    • Deep knowledge in digital marketing
    • Knowledge of international maritime laws, environmental regulations, and contract types (FIDIC, NEC, etc.)
    • Strong network within the marine industry, particularly in high-growth African regions
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts
    • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50\% of the time)
