THE WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL, ACCRA
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The West African Examinations Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the under-mentioned vacant positions in the Ghana National Office.
POSITIONS:
1.    DATA ENTRY CLERKS
      Specific Duties and Responsibilities
      The successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties among others in the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD):
  • Prepare source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all data entered by reviewing and comparing it to source documents.
  • Keep sensitive information confidential and handle it with professionalism and discretion.
  • Follow all company procedures and protocols for data entry and security.
  • Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures.
  • Purge files to eliminate duplication of data.
  • Secure information by completing data base backups.
  • Obtain missing or incomplete data from various sources and gather appropriate information
      Qualifications
      Applicants must possess a minimum of WASSCE/SSSCE/GBCE/GCE Ordinary Level with credits in at least five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
      Experience
      Applicants must have at least one (1) year relevant post-qualification experience in a reputable organisation.
      Key Competencies
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A good understanding of data confidentiality issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software package.
  • Proficient in typing.
      Age
      Applicants must not be more than thirty (30) years of age at the time of applying.
2.    DRIVERS
       Specific Duties and Responsibilities
       The successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties among others in the Transport Department:
  • Convey materials, equipment, and staff to areas where they are required.
  • Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition.
  • Ensure that vehicle repairs are carried out properly.
  • Ensure daily routine maintenance checks.
  • Perform minor repair works on the vehicle.
  • Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring reports.
      Qualifications
      Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
       –  BECE with Grade six (6) in at least five (5) subjects
                                         OR
        WASSCE/SSSCE/GBCE with credits in at least five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics
       –  NVTI Proficiency in mechanical related field.
        –  A Valid Driving License ‘C’.
       Experience
       Applicants must have at least one (1) year relevant post-qualification experience in a reputable organisation.

3.   PRINTING OPERATOR GRADE III
       The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties among others in the Reprographics Department:
       Specific Duties and Responsibilities
       The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties among others:
  • Prepare and operate offset printing machines.
  • Perform daily cleaning, routine and scheduled maintenance on machines.
  • Monitor the printing process to maintain print quality.
  • Assist in training individuals and other team members assigned.
  • Comply with established security and safety procedures, policies and core processes of the organisation.
  • Work with other departments and maintenance personnel on projects.
  • Focus on improved quality, work turn-around, safety, cost reductions and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned (operating photocopiers, duplicators, etc).
  • Resolve minor technical issues with presses, ink and other solutions as necessary.
       Qualifications
        Applicants must possess a minimum of WASSCE/SSSCE/GBCE/GCE Ordinary Level with credits in at least five (5) subjects,          including English Language and Mathematics,
                                                                                   OR
        BECE and Printing Craft certificate issued by Ghana Education Service or NVTI Grade certificate.
        Experience
        Applicants must have at least one (1) year relevant post-qualification experience in a reputable organisation.
        Familiarity with various types of offset presses (Single sheet-feed, Continuous-feed)
        Key Competencies
  • Ability to detect defects in printed pieces while jobs are in progress and make adjustments for correction.
  • Very good quality-driven work habits.
  • Strong commitment to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic mechanical ability and a desire to acquire further knowledge and understanding of the operations of offset printing press.
  • Knowledge/experience of the use of and application of inks to paper and the various chemicals and materials used in the pressroom.
  • Ability to be trained to operate other finishing machines and digital presses.
  • Knowledge of pre-press work as related to press activities (correct imposition and gripping)
  • Willingness to work overtime and if needed holidays and weekends
     Age
     Applicants must not be more than thirty (30) years of age at the time of applying.
      NOTE: All applicants must be physically and medically fit and of good character.
